Meet Verdaillia Turner- A Champion for Public Education
Verdaillia Turner is a native of Atlanta, Georgia, and a lifelong educator. She resides in Stone Mountain, GA and has been a resident of DeKalb County all of her life.
She has held various positions in her local teachers’ union, the Atlanta Federation of Teachers. Verdaillia started her teaching career as a 10th and 11th grade Social Science teacher at the historic Archer High School in Atlanta, GA. Verdaillia retired with 30+ years of service.
Verdaillia currently serves as state president of the Georgia Federation of Teachers and her local union, the Atlanta Federation of Teachers. Ms. Turner obtained her BA in Political Science from Spelman College. She has a Masters of Arts in Secondary Education & Administration from the Atlanta University Center, presently known as Clark Atlanta University. Verdaillia furthered her education, by earning a Specialist in Education, from the University of West Georgia.
Recently, she launched a video podcast called Let’s Talk, designed to educate the public in-depth on issues that affect their daily lives. She also has another video podcast where she gives her opinion or states what is going on at the time, called Georgia Now.

Verdaillia became a teacher because her father desired for her to do so, and because she respected and loved her own teachers, who left a lasting impact on her life.
